This plan aims to see transformative change in some of the most disadvantaged communities in the country and offers churches and other faith groups an important opportunity to be at the heart of long-term community engagement.

The church has been tackling poverty for centuries. From providing food essentials through to campaigning for better wages, the church has done it all. Everyone is welcome in the church and it is these values of belonging and generosity which give us unique hope and motivation to keep fighting poverty.

But the fight isn’t over. Over 14.4 million people live in poverty in the UK, with many struggling to eat and heat their homes. ChurchWorks is committed to equipping and releasing the church to tackle poverty and love our communities.

How is ChurchWorks tackling poverty?

Catalysing Collaboration

through our Warm Welcome Campaign and our ChurchWorks Community

Communicating

the amazing work the church is already doing to inspire and equip others to get involved, both inside and outside the church through online and in-person events and campaigns

Research

with partners including UK universities to help the church and the government understand more about the impact the church is having already, and how it could fight poverty even more effectively in the future
